Bellarmine University’s baseball team lost the opening game of its ASUN Conference series against Lipscomb, falling 5-4 on May 7 at Ken Dugan Field. The series opener was moved up by a day due to weather expected in the Nashville area later in the weekend.

The matchup saw Lipscomb take an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding single runs in both the third and fourth innings for a 5-0 advantage. Bellarmine began to rally midway through the game, loading the bases in the fifth inning before Landon Akers hit a two-RBI single to right field. AJ Swader followed with an RBI single, narrowing Lipscomb’s lead to 5-3.

In the eighth inning, Luca Hoerger delivered an RBI single that scored Luke Scales and brought Bellarmine within one run at 5-4. Hoerger finished with two hits, one RBI, and a run scored. Swader recorded three hits and one RBI while Akers drove in two runs.
