Devrinn Paul has joined the Bellarmine University women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach, reuniting with head coach Monique Reid, according to a May 1 announcement.

The appointment brings together two figures who previously worked together at the University of Louisville, where Reid was a standout player and Paul served on the coaching staff. This reunion is significant for the program as both have experience in high-level collegiate basketball and bring a history of collaboration.

Paul most recently served as head women’s basketball coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology from 2023 to 2026. During his tenure, he led the team to notable improvements, achieving more wins in his first two seasons than the program had recorded in four years prior to his arrival. “DP and I go way back to our college days at Louisville — he’s a true professional with an unmatched work ethic,” Reid said. “I couldn’t be more excited for this reunion! He’s ready to work!”

Paul began his collegiate coaching career under Jeff Walz at Louisville, serving first as a graduate assistant and then as video coordinator from 2008 to 2013. His time there included participation in two NCAA Final Four runs by the Cardinals’ women’s team and helping develop five Women’s National Basketball Association draft picks. “I’m truly excited to join the Bellarmine women’s basketball program and reunite with Mo,” Paul said. “Having coached her at the University of Louisville, I’ve seen firsthand her work ethic, discipline and commitment to growth. She was someone who showed up every day and trusted the grind, and I believe that same mindset will continue to show up in how she leads this program.”

After leaving Louisville, Paul spent three years as an assistant coach at Marshall University before returning briefly to private sector roles and public education. He later returned to college coaching with Cincinnati before taking on his most recent head coaching role at Rose-Hulman.

Paul holds degrees from Kentucky State University (business marketing), Louisville (higher education), and Brooklyn College (special education teaching). In May 2025, he published a book titled “Coaching the Winner Within: 7 Leadership Skills to Elevate Your Team and Your Life.” He grew up in Hempstead, New York before moving to Louisville where he attended Waggener High School.

“This is a special opportunity for our family,” Paul said. “I’m looking forward to building relationships with our players and staff, contributing to a positive culture and helping this program grow through consistency, accountability and a shared commitment to getting better every day.” He added: “I’m excited to get to work alongside a staff that is passionate about development and competition.”
