Bellarmine University track and field set three new program records during the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational, which took place Thursday through Saturday and was hosted by the University of Louisville.
The event saw senior Zander Hooten break a longstanding men’s record in the 110-meter hurdles. Hooten finished third with a time of 14.26 seconds, surpassing Seth Sigler’s previous record of 14.28 seconds set at the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.
In the women’s long jump, junior Amelia Svidal tied a program record with a leap of 5.84 meters, matching Denasha Mondy’s mark from the 2008 Stan Lyons Invitational. Svidal placed eighth in her event.
Freshman Dylan Forster established a new men’s freshman shot put record for Bellarmine with a throw of 16.96 meters, improving upon his own previous best of 16.39 meters achieved at the Tennessee Invite.
Other notable performances included junior Enrico Busato finishing ninth in men’s shot put (15.32m), freshman Caysie Brady taking eighth in women’s discus (46.15m) and tenth in hammer throw (47.99m), and senior Zac Hutslar placing ninth in men’s long jump (6.95m). Several Knights athletes also earned top-15 finishes across various events.
Looking ahead, Bellarmine is scheduled to compete next Friday and Saturday at the Jim Green Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky.
