The University of Louisville baseball team lost to Indiana 10-6 at Jim Patterson Stadium on April 28, ending its five-game winning streak.

The loss brings Louisville’s record to 26-19. The game was marked by early scoring from Indiana, which now stands at a season record of 20-25. The Hoosiers took control in the first three innings, building a significant lead that the Cardinals could not overcome.

Indiana scored one run in the first inning with a two-out double and added another unearned run in the second after two Louisville errors. In the third inning, Indiana sent ten batters to the plate and scored five runs, putting them ahead 7-0 after just three innings.

Louisville managed to stop further scoring for two innings but gave up a solo home run in the sixth. Jimmy Nugent put Louisville on the board with his seventh home run of the year in their half of the sixth inning. However, Indiana answered back with another run in the seventh.

The Cardinals tried to rally late with sacrifice flies from Zion Rose and Tague Davis in the seventh and three more runs driven in by Kade Elam, Ben Slanker, and Lucas Moore in the eighth. Despite getting two runners on base in their final chance during the ninth inning, they were unable to bring up a tying run.

Moore, Rose and Nugent each recorded two hits during Tuesday’s loss. Looking ahead, Louisville will play seven consecutive games on the road starting with a series against Wake Forest beginning Thursday night at 7 p.m., which will be televised on ACC Network.
