The University of Louisville men’s golf team advanced to fourth place on Apr. 24 at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship after posting a score of 5-under-par 283 at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club in Panama City Beach, Florida.

This improvement came after the Cardinals began the day in seventh place, having recorded a score of 2-over-par 290 on Thursday. The team’s performance brought them within three shots of second-place Virginia, while Stanford led the field at 22-under-par heading into Sunday’s final round.

The Cardinals’ round was among their best this season, marking the third-best team round of the day and ranking as the fifth-best in school history. Warren Thomis led Louisville with a bogey-free round of 5-under-par 67, moving up seventeen spots into fourth place individually after two rounds. His score matched his previous best from earlier in the season.

Thomis now trails leader Edan Cui of Stanford by four shots going into the final stroke play round. Andrew Tan contributed with a score of 2-under-par, tying for fifty-fourth place overall. Cooper Claycomb and Brady Smith are tied for twenty-ninth after shooting even-par and two-over-par rounds respectively, while Easton Johnson is tied for thirty-eighth following his second-round score of seventy-five.

The tournament will conclude Sunday with one more stroke play round.
