The University of Louisville men’s tennis team, ranked No. 59, will play two Atlantic Coast Conference matches on the road starting April 3. The Cardinals will face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg at 4:30 p.m., followed by a match against No. 4 Virginia in Charlottesville on April 5 at 1 p.m.
These matches are important for Louisville as they seek to improve their conference record. The team currently holds a record of 16-10 overall and is 4-6 in ACC play.
Louisville recently split its weekend matches, defeating Boston College with a score of 4-1 before falling to No. 32 SMU by a score of 4-0. Senior Pedro Cressoni reached his milestone collegiate win total during the Boston College match, earning his hundredth victory with a straight-set singles win over Matthew Overvelde.
Against Virginia Tech, Louisville leads the all-time series with a record of seventeen wins to fourteen losses. In their last meeting on March 28, Louisville defeated the Hokies by a score of four to zero. Virginia Tech enters this matchup trying to end a five-match losing streak after most recently losing to Florida State.
The second opponent for Louisville will be the University of Virginia Cavaliers, who hold an overall record of seventeen wins and three losses this season, including nine victories in conference play. The Cavaliers have won nine out of their last ten matches and feature four nationally ranked singles players, including Dylan Dietrich who is ranked No.2.
