The University of Louisville softball team earned an 8-7 victory in a 10-inning game against Indiana at Ulmer Stadium on April 16. The win marks the Cardinals’ 17th comeback of the season and brings their record to 35-9 as they prepare for upcoming Atlantic Coast Conference play.

This close contest saw Louisville rally multiple times, including a walk-off single by Easton Lotus in the bottom of the tenth inning. Madi Reeves was credited with the win after pitching three innings in relief, striking out five batters and allowing two runs. Taylor Monroe led Louisville’s offense with three hits, two runs scored, three runs batted in, and one walk. Ava Venturelli and Jordan Williams also contributed key RBIs during the game.

Indiana took an early lead with sacrifice flies in both the first and fourth innings. Louisville responded when Monroe singled to score Madison Pickens in the fifth inning. The Cardinals then moved ahead briefly after Williams and Venturelli each drove in runs during a productive sixth inning.

A solo home run from Indiana tied the score at three in the seventh, sending the teams into extra innings. The Hoosiers regained momentum with two runs in the eighth but were matched by doubles from Williams and Monroe that helped Louisville even things up again. In a tense tenth inning, Indiana added two more runs before Monroe’s single narrowed their lead and Lotus’s decisive hit secured victory for Louisville.

The Cardinals will next face Pittsburgh at Ulmer Stadium from April 17 to April 19. The first two games are scheduled for streaming on ACCNX while Sunday’s matchup will air on ACC Network.
