Louisville track and field wraps up competition at Jim Green Invitational

The University of Louisville track and field teams concluded their participation at the Jim Green Invitational on May 2 in Lexington, Kentucky.

The event marked the end of a two-day meet for Louisville, with several athletes achieving top finishes. Ty McPhail tied for first place in the men’s pole vault after clearing a height of 5.21 meters. In the women’s shot put, Kaia Tupu-South secured second place with a throw of 17.35 meters, her third time surpassing the 17-meter mark during this outdoor season.

Heidi Meade finished second in the women’s 5000 meters with a personal-best time of 16:49.25, closely followed by Haley Meade who placed third at 16:49.38. The women’s 4×400 meter relay team—Breanna Braham, McKenzie Bell, Zylah Sturdivant, and Jalasia Lewis—achieved second place with a season-best time of 3:40.30, which is now ranked as the third-fastest in program history.

On the men’s side, Terence Jackson, Ryan Farrell, Ethan Brouw, and Brendan Ruggles combined to finish third in the men’s 4×400 meter relay with their own season-best performance at 3:13.34.

The Cardinals will complete their regular season schedule at the Duke Twilight meet in Durham on Sunday evening where both men’s and women’s teams are set to compete again in the 5000 meter races starting at 9:40 p.m.
