Louisville women’s golf in 15th place after first day of ACC Championships

The Louisville women’s golf team finished the first day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships on Apr. 16 in 15th place at Porters Neck Country Club. The team recorded a score of 12-over-par 300 in the opening round and improved to a 9-over-par 297 in the second round.

This performance places Louisville towards the bottom of the leaderboard as they head into the final round of stroke play scheduled for tomorrow morning. The tournament features top collegiate teams, making competition especially strong.

Millie Cottrell posted Louisville’s best individual score during the second round with an even-par 72, highlighted by three birdies. She is currently tied for 56th overall at six-over-par. Thienna Huynh and Veronika Exposito are tied for the highest individual positions among Cardinals golfers, both shooting two-over-par rounds of 74 in their second outings and standing tied for 46th overall at four-over-par each.

Bailey Burkett carded a five-over-par score of 77 with two birdies in her second round, tying her for 61st overall at seven-over-par. Emree Cameron also shot a five-over-par round and is tied for 71st at thirteen-over-par after two rounds.

In Thursday’s opening round, Huynh, Exposito, and Burkett all led Louisville with scores of two-over-par (74). Huynh managed four birdies during that stretch while Exposito and Burkett each made two. Cameron and Cottrell both finished their first rounds at six-over (78), with Cottrell adding one birdie to her tally.
