The University of Louisville women’s tennis team lost 7-0 to No. 10 North Carolina State on April 3 in Raleigh.

This match is significant as it continues the Cardinals’ challenging run against nationally ranked opponents, with NC State holding a strong record this season. The defeat also marks the end of Louisville’s road matches before they conclude their regular season Atlantic Coast Conference schedule.

Louisville was unable to secure the doubles point, with Berta Miret and Elena Noguero falling 6-0 to Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe, who are ranked second nationally. On court two, Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina were defeated by Jasmine Conway and Anna Zyryanova, ranked seventy-third, also by a score of 6-0. In singles play, Alice Otis lost to Mia Slama (ranked thirty-sixth) with scores of 6-1, 6-1. Other singles results included straight-set wins for NC State players over Louisville’s lineup.

The Cardinals now have a record of nine wins and ten losses for the season. They will travel next to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest on Sunday as they wrap up their regular ACC schedule.

This result reflects the high level of competition within collegiate women’s tennis and underscores the challenges teams face when playing top-ranked programs.
