Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from internship opportunities to concerns about coal industry profits and health insurance premiums.

On October 17, McGarvey reminded followers of an upcoming deadline for a congressional internship: “We’re a month out from the deadline to apply for a spring internship in my Washington, DC office! Learn more and apply, here: https://t.co/UPk36iYqkL https://t.co/AdzBBNTsv1” (posted October 17, 2025).

Later that day, he commented on former President Donald Trump’s coal policy: “Donald Trump’s obsession with coal is all about increasing profits for everyone at the top — it has nothing to do with the miners themselves. Miners and their families deserve better. https://t.co/8BJL983Vzn” (posted October 17, 2025).

On October 19, McGarvey addressed rising health care costs in Kentucky: “Health insurance premiums in Kentucky are going up if Congress doesn’t act — who’s affected? https://t.co/sKh2W4I9R4” (posted October 19, 2025).

Morgan McGarvey began serving as U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district in 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. Before joining Congress, he served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives and the Kentucky Senate between 2013 and 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979 and currently residing there, McGarvey holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
