Rep. Morgan McGarvey, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently addressed issues affecting coal miners, health care tax credits, and clean energy policy in a series of posts on his social media account.
On December 16, 2025, McGarvey posted: “Our country owes coal miners so much, but too many miners feel the system is rigged against them.
They’re right. It’s too hard for miners and their survivors to get the benefits they’ve earned.
We’re working to change that.”
The following day, he commented on bipartisan action regarding health care tax credits: “Republicans just joined our petition to force a vote on extending the ACA tax credits.
The pressure is working.” (December 17, 2025)
Later that same day, McGarvey criticized former President Donald Trump’s energy policies: “This is the impact of Trump’s big ugly bill.
We should be focused on the future, but his short-sighted attack on clean energy has made it too expensive. And Kentucky workers are paying for it.” (December 17, 2025)
Morgan McGarvey was born in Louisville in 1979 and continues to reside there at age 43. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Before joining Congress in 2023—succeeding John Yarmuth—he served in both chambers of Kentucky’s legislature between 2013 and 2023.
