Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared a series of posts addressing national security, environmental policy, and community service.

On August 11, 2025, McGarvey commented on former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Washington D.C., stating: “Trump’s decision to seize control of DC’s police department and deploy the military in our nation’s capital is a blatant authoritarian power grab based on lies.

He doesn’t care about safety, he cares about taking more power for himself.

DC deserves autonomy and statehood.”

The following day, August 12, McGarvey addressed environmental concerns related to the Ohio River: “This is a win for the over 25 million people who depend on the Ohio!

The Clean Water Act is not a suggestion — in June, I called on @EPA to step in and address extreme levels of PFAS in our river, and we’ll never stop fighting to protect this vital resource.”

Later that same day, he highlighted local charitable work: “S.O.S. International is a local nonprofit that sends Louisville’s compassion to areas in need across the globe — the kind of effort I’m extra grateful to see right now.

This week, Team McGarvey dropped off some supplies with their incredible team!”

Morgan McGarvey began serving as U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district in 2023 after replacing John Yarmuth. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and on the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey continues to reside there. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and earned his JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2007.
