Rep. Morgan McGarvey, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district since 2023, addressed several community issues in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) this week, focusing on gun violence, bipartisan healthcare initiatives, and constituent engagement.
On August 21, McGarvey highlighted the ongoing impact of gun violence in Louisville and nationwide. He wrote, “Gun violence is an epidemic — here in Louisville and across the country. Yesterday, @GIFFORDS_org joined us to hear from health professionals, local leaders, and survivors of gun violence about the impact on our community. We need decisive action. That starts in Congress.”
The following day, August 22, McGarvey emphasized the importance of bipartisan support for research and treatment related to multiple sclerosis (MS). He stated, “Funding research and finding effective treatment for MS should be a bipartisan issue — we all have to work together on this. Thank you to Andy and Robin from @mssociety for sharing your stories.”
Later that same day, McGarvey invited Louisville residents to participate in an upcoming town hall meeting. In his post he said, “LOUISVILLE: I’m hosting a town hall NEXT SATURDAY to hear directly from you and your family. Location will be provided upon RSVP — sign up here: https://t.co/87alR8gh7t https://t.co/4WuQQuagMG”
Morgan McGarvey was born in Louisville in 1979 and continues to reside there. Before joining Congress in 2023 as the successor to John Yarmuth, he served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
