U.S. Congressman Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district, addressed several issues on his official social media account in mid-October 2025. McGarvey’s posts covered Indigenous Peoples’ Day, ongoing political disputes in Congress, and concerns about black lung disease.
On October 13, 2025, McGarvey marked Indigenous Peoples’ Day by stating, “The stories, struggles, and triumphs of Indigenous peoples are deeply rooted in our shared history. Today is a celebration of Indigenous histories, cultures, and resilience, and a reminder of our responsibility to uphold promises made to tribal nations.”
The following day, October 14, McGarvey commented on partisan tensions in Congress. He wrote, “Democrats are at the table. Republicans are still hiding from a crisis they created.”
Later that same day, McGarvey addressed the issue of black lung disease among coal miners. He posted, “Black lung is incurable but 100% preventable. After decades of work, there’s a solution on the table— but the Trump administration refuses to implement it. While they drag their feet, lives are at stake. I’m calling them out.”
Morgan McGarvey has served in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing John Yarmuth as the representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district. Prior to his current role, he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and in the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey continues to reside in his hometown. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and earned his JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2007.
