U.S. Representative Morgan McGarvey, who serves Kentucky’s 3rd district and resides in Louisville, addressed the recent plane crash that claimed the lives of Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Captain Dana Diamond. In a series of posts on his official social media account, McGarvey expressed condolences and solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.
On November 6, 2025, McGarvey posted: “My heart is with the families of Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Captain Dana Diamond as we mourn their loss.
Please join me in continuing to pray for their loved ones, our UPS workers, and every Louisvillian impacted by this tragedy. We’ll get through https://t.co/7y7MFoAALT“
The following evening, he acknowledged community efforts to support those grieving: “Tonight, our community came together to mourn those we lost in this week’s tragic plane crash. Grateful for the leadership and compassion of Teamsters 89 for organizing this candlelight vigil to bring us together. https://t.co/ofSobNCPB3” (November 7, 2025).
Later that day, McGarvey reiterated his support for those impacted: “My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of those we lost in this week’s tragedy — they are in my prayers during this unimaginably difficult time.

Morgan McGarvey has represented Kentucky’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing John Yarmuth in 2023. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979 and currently residing there at age 43, McGarvey holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
