Morgan McGarvey, a current U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district, has recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Since replacing John Yarmuth in 2023, McGarvey has been vocal on matters ranging from healthcare policy to community safety.

On July 4, 2025, Rep. Morgan McGarvey criticized former President Donald Trump for allegedly breaking a promise regarding Medicaid. He stated that “Donald Trump lied.” According to McGarvey, Trump is about to enact legislation leading to the largest cut in Medicaid history, which he sees as another instance of the former president prioritizing billionaires over working families.

In a subsequent tweet dated July 5, 2025, McGarvey expressed solidarity with those affected by recent floods in Texas. He noted that “our entire nation is praying for everyone in Texas impacted by these tragic floods.” He extended gratitude towards local leaders and first responders for their efforts in saving lives during these natural disasters.

Later on July 5, 2025, McGarvey condemned white supremacy and hate within his community of Louisville. In his message, he affirmed that “white supremacy and hate in all forms have no place in Louisville.” Emphasizing community safety during holiday gatherings was a priority for him as he advocated for an inclusive environment where all members feel secure.

Morgan McGarvey’s career includes service both at the federal level and within Kentucky state politics. Prior to his current role since 2023 representing Kentucky’s 3rd District in Congress, he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023.
