U.S. Representative Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress, recently addressed several national issues on his social media account, including youth caregivers for disabled veterans, gun suicide among veterans, and political violence.
On September 8, 2025, McGarvey highlighted the challenges faced by young caregivers supporting disabled veterans at home. He wrote: “There are millions of kids nationwide who support a disabled veteran at home. But, unlike other caregivers, they aren’t getting federal support. We’re working to understand the challenges youth caregivers face and what support they need.”
The following day, on September 9, 2025, McGarvey drew attention to the issue of gun suicide in America. He stated: “Every day, we lose 74 Americans to gun suicide, nearly a quarter of which are veterans. By talking about gun suicide, practicing safe firearm storage, and encouraging those in crisis to reach out for help, we can prevent these tragedies. #FirearmSuicidePreventionDay”
On September 10, 2025, McGarvey responded to an act of political violence involving Charlie Kirk by posting: “Political violence has no place in this country, and cannot be normalized. I unequivocally condemn this horrific attack, and my prayers are with Charlie Kirk and his loved ones.”
Morgan McGarvey began serving as U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district in 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979 and currently residing there at age 43, McGarvey holds a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
