On July 7, Rep. McGarvey expressed his condolences regarding the tragic flooding along the Guadalupe River. In his post, he stated, “My heart breaks for the loved ones of every person lost to the horrific flooding along the Guadalupe River.” He acknowledged the efforts of first responders and shared a personal note as a parent himself, offering prayers to those affected.
The following day, July 8, Rep. McGarvey criticized recent budgetary decisions by Republican lawmakers in another tweet. He remarked that “The Republican budget just made it even easier for the ultra rich to buy a private jet — paid for by the American taxpayer.” This statement highlights his stance on economic policies that he believes favor wealthy individuals at taxpayers’ expense.
On July 9, Rep. McGarvey invited Louisville students interested in attending U.S. service academies to apply for nominations through his office before October 31. He tweeted, “Interested in attending a U.S. service academy? Louisville students can apply for service academy nominations through my office until October 31!” He provided further information and application details via his website.
Morgan McGarvey was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1979 and currently resides there with his family. Before serving in Congress, he was part of both the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate over various periods starting from 2013.
