U.S. Congressman Morgan McGarvey, representing Kentucky’s 3rd district and a Louisville native, shared several posts on his social media account on October 1, 2025. The messages ranged from religious observances in his home city to commentary on national political events.
In his first post of the day, McGarvey addressed constituents observing Yom Kippur, stating: “Wishing a meaningful and easy fast to all observing Yom Kippur in Louisville! I hope this will be a time of reflection and renewal for each of you.” (October 1, 2025).
Later that evening, as news of the federal government shutdown spread, McGarvey commented on the political climate by posting: “The government is shut down, and the blame game has already started.” (October 1, 2025).
Addressing recent revelations about former President Donald Trump’s actions involving military leaders, McGarvey wrote: “Trump’s disgraceful hauling of military leaders into a room to float going to war against Americans is terrifying and wrong. Our service members are not political pawns and U.S. citizens are not the ‘enemy from within.'” (October 1, 2025).
McGarvey has represented Kentucky’s 3rd congressional district since 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. He previously served in both the Kentucky House of Representatives (2019-2023) and the Kentucky Senate (2013-2023). Born in Louisville in 1979, he holds degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law.
