Morgan McGarvey, a current U.S. Congress representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district, has voiced concerns through social media regarding recent legislative actions. He has been serving in this capacity since 2023, after replacing John Yarmuth. McGarvey, who resides in Louisville and is an alumnus of the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law, previously served in both the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate.
On May 21, 2025, McGarvey posted about his attempt to amend a Republican budget proposal. He stated: “I offered a simple amendment to the Republican budget — the bill can’t move forward unless we can guarantee kids and disabled veterans won’t lose their Medicaid coverage.” He expressed disappointment that Republicans could not agree on this amendment.
Later that day, McGarvey reiterated his stance with another post emphasizing protection for children like one of his constituents named June. He stated: “My amendment is simple — protect kids like my constituent June from getting kicked off their health insurance.” He highlighted that such protection should not be controversial.
The following day, on May 22, McGarvey shared further criticism towards Republicans for voting to remove health insurance coverage from over 13 million Americans during a late-night session. He noted: “In the middle of the night, Republicans voted to kick over 13 million Americans off their health insurance — kids with disabilities, veterans, and working families.” McGarvey accused them of prioritizing billionaire donors over American citizens but pledged continued efforts against these actions in the Senate.
Morgan McGarvey’s engagement highlights his ongoing commitment to healthcare issues within Congress as he represents Kentucky’s interests at a federal level.
