Rep. Morgan McGarvey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 3rd district, has been vocal on social media about various political issues. McGarvey replaced John Yarmuth in 2023 and has since used his platform to address concerns affecting his constituents and broader national matters.

On May 7, 2025, Rep. McGarvey highlighted the impact of proposed Medicaid cuts by Republicans on vulnerable populations. He shared the story of a young constituent named June who relies on Medicaid for essential care at home with her family. McGarvey expressed concern that “she’s just a kid” and deserves better than what the budget proposes “My 10 year old constituent June is one of the millions of Americans who would be hurt by Republicans’ Medicaid cuts.”

Later that day, McGarvey criticized House Republicans for prioritizing tax cuts for donors over children’s health care. He urged bipartisan cooperation to prevent Medicaid cuts by signing Rep. Brendan Boyle’s petition “House Republicans are cutting kids’ health care to pay for their donors’ tax cuts.” He emphasized that this issue should not be partisan and encouraged continued public pressure.

On May 8, 2025, McGarvey commented on a proposal regarding naming rights related to geographical locations like the Gulf of Mexico or Gulf of America. Dismissing it as an unnecessary distraction from pressing legislative work in Washington, he stated “Call it the Gulf of Mexico, call it the Gulf of America — bid naming rights out to the SEC schools for all I care.” His remarks reflect his focus on more substantive legislative priorities rather than symbolic gestures.

Morgan McGarvey was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1979 and continues to reside there with his family. A graduate of the University of Missouri and holder of a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law (2007), he previously served in both chambers of Kentucky’s legislature before joining Congress.
