U.S. Representative Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on October 16 and 17, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s policies and their impact on government operations and Kentucky farmers.
On October 16, McGarvey wrote, “Trump doesn’t care if the government works for you. They don’t have to cut anything —this is their choice.”
The following day, McGarvey addressed the effect of tariffs on local agriculture: “From corn to soy beans, Trump’s tariffs are cutting Kentucky farmers off at the knees. That’s why I joined over 35 members to call on Trump to put American farmers first and end his petty trade war.” He also shared a link to the full letter sent to Trump with the statement: “Read the full letter here:”
Morgan McGarvey has represented Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress since replacing John Yarmuth in 2023. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the Kentucky House of Representatives (2019–2023) and the Kentucky Senate (2013–2023). Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey holds degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law.
