Morgan McGarvey, currently serving as a U.S. Congress representative for Kentucky’s 3rd District, frequently shares his perspectives regarding national policies via social media. On May 1, 2025, McGarvey expressed his critique of the Trump Administration’s initial 100 days in office through a series of tweets.

In one of his tweets from the afternoon of May 1, McGarvey addressed a project associated with Donald Trump, stating “Donald Trump said he would cut government waste on day 1 — after 100 days, his failed DOGE project has cost American taxpayers more than it’s cut.”

Later that day, McGarvey highlighted broader economic and social concerns under Trump’s leadership. He said, “From looming Medicaid cuts to a messy trade war, 100 days under the Trump Administration have left Louisville families unable to plan for the future.” He acknowledged the unity of the Democratic caucus, stating, “@HouseDemocrats and @SenateDems are united in the fight against this chaos, and we’re not backing down.”

In a subsequent message, McGarvey characterized the Trump Administration’s first 100 days as a failure, asserting that “Trump’s first 100 days have been an unmitigated disaster.” He pointed out the rising costs and vulnerability of essential programs like Medicaid and Social Security, adding that Louisvillians face uncertainty about future planning.

Morgan McGarvey, born in 1979, is a graduate of the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law. He began serving in the U.S. Congress in 2023 after replacing John Yarmuth. Prior to this, he held positions in the Kentucky House of Representatives and Kentucky Senate, with a longstanding commitment to public service in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
