Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted local initiatives and challenges facing Louisville in a series of posts on social media.

On August 19, 2025, McGarvey visited Bigelow Tea in Louisville and commented on the impact of tariffs on local businesses: “Great visit to @bigelowtea, a women-owned family company that has operated here in Louisville for over 3 decades! As an American company, tariffs are hitting them hard, making it harder to invest in Kentucky workers. We have to do more to support jobs here at home.”

The following day, August 20, he discussed his engagement with a local program supporting seniors: “Louisville’s PACE program gives seniors in our community the opportunity to maintain their autonomy without sacrificing their care. Thank you for welcoming me to learn more about the work you do and how we can keep fighting for innovative solutions like this in Congress.”

On August 21, McGarvey shared news about new affordable housing efforts: “We just broke ground on new affordable housing for Louisville seniors. The cost of housing is way too high — not just for young people and families, but seniors, too. This is what we can accomplish when we all team up.”

Morgan McGarvey began serving as the U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district after succeeding John Yarmuth in 2023. He previously served both in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born and residing in Louisville since his birth in 1979, McGarvey holds degrees from the University of Missouri (BA) and the University of Kentucky College of Law (JD).
