U.S. Representative Morgan McGarvey, who serves Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress, posted a series of messages on his official social media account between October 20 and 21, 2025. The posts addressed recent government shutdowns, legislative priorities regarding tax credits, and a greeting for the Diwali holiday.
On October 20, McGarvey referenced previous government shutdowns with the statement: “Just a little reminder that the last three shutdowns have happened under a Donald Trump presidency.”
Later that day, he emphasized his legislative focus in Washington by stating: “This is what’s at stake. This is why I’m in Washington fighting to extend these credits.”
On October 21, McGarvey marked the Diwali holiday with well wishes to constituents and others celebrating worldwide: “Happy Diwali to all celebrating in Louisville and across the world! I hope you have a a wonderful, blessed celebration spent with loved ones.”
Morgan McGarvey has represented Kentucky’s 3rd congressional district since 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. He previously served in both the Kentucky House of Representatives and the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey holds degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law.
