Since replacing John Yarmuth in 2023, McGarvey has been an active voice on various issues affecting both his state and the nation.

On July 3, 2025, McGarvey noted that “@RepJeffries just gave the longest speech in the history of the House.” He praised Rep. Jeffries for sharing stories from across the country to prevent Republicans from passing a bill overnight. McGarvey emphasized their commitment by stating, “We cannot and will not stop fighting.”

Later that day, McGarvey expressed his disapproval of a recent budget proposal by Republicans, stating that “This Republican budget is a slap in the face to Kentucky and all of rural America.” He directed followers to his full statement via a link provided in the tweet.

On July 4, 2025, McGarvey participated in a local event celebrating new citizens. He tweeted about being “Honored to be a part of the Locust Grove naturalization ceremony this Fourth of July to celebrate and welcome some of our newest citizens!”

Morgan McGarvey was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1979 and currently resides there. Before serving in Congress, he was part of the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023 and served briefly in the Kentucky House of Representatives.
