Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to highlight community events and federal support initiatives for Louisville residents.
On April 1, 2026, McGarvey invited students to an informational session on the Congressional nomination process for U.S. service academies. He wrote: “Know someone interested in attending a U.S. service academy? All middle and high school students in Louisville are welcome to join my virtual Service Academy Night to learn more about the Congressional nomination process from start to finish! A day later, on April 2, 2026, McGarvey announced funding secured for Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC). He stated: “One of my favorite parts of this job is bringing home federal funding. JCTC does incredible work to prep our future teachers, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and public servants — I’m proud to have secured $850,000 to help upgrade their campus! https://t.co/clh0POQwip”.
On April 3, 2026, McGarvey addressed ongoing efforts related to gun violence prevention in the community. He posted: “Nearly three years later, our community is still grieving, and we’re still working toward a future without gun violence. Morgan McGarvey began representing Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress after replacing John Yarmuth in 2023 and previously served in both the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate from 2013 through early 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, he continues to reside there today. His educational background includes a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
