On April 21, 2025, Rep. McGarvey took to social media to express his condolences on the passing of a revered religious figure. In his post, he stated, “In life and service, we are judged by how we treat those on the margins — Pope Francis led with that belief. Today, I join millions in mourning his passing. His legacy calls on each of us to treat all of our neighbors with compassion and lift up our most vulnerable.”
Later that day, McGarvey encouraged young artists from Louisville to participate in a creative competition.
