Morgan McGarvey, a U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district, recently shared several updates on social media, reflecting on local and international events. McGarvey has been serving in Congress since 2023, following his tenure in the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate.

On January 25, 2025, McGarvey commemorated two influential figures from Louisville who passed away. He noted that “Louisville laid two legends to rest today. Shirley Mae Beard fed our souls, combining culinary excellence with love & activism, improving our city in every way. Eddie ‘Meatball’ Craven—the unofficial J-Town Mayor—rode his bike everywhere with a smile. Both will be greatly missed.”

On January 27, 2025, McGarvey celebrated the birthday of a World War II veteran from Louisville. He expressed joy over the milestone by stating “Nothing better than celebrating 102 years for a beloved Louisvillian and WWII veteran — Happy Birthday to Mr. Ralph Cochran! So glad our Green and Gold Fellow Lynn was able to be there.”

Also on January 27, McGarvey addressed International Holocaust Remembrance Day by emphasizing the importance of combating antisemitism. He stated “On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we mourn the six million Jewish lives brutally and systematically taken during the Holocaust. We must fight back against antisemitism in every form and do everything in our power to ensure this kind of atrocity never occurs again.”
