Rep. Morgan McGarvey, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district since 2023, posted a series of reflections on April 10 and April 13, marking the anniversary of the Old National Bank mass shooting and commemorating Yom HaShoah.
On April 10, McGarvey wrote about the impact of the Old National Bank shooting: “It’s hard to believe that it’s been three years since the mass shooting at Old National Bank. Three years later, it’s still shocking. It still hurts. I still haven’t found the words to heal those wounds.” On the same day, he acknowledged those affected and first responders: “My heart is with our community today, and with the loved ones of Josh Barrick, Deana Eckert, Juliana Farmer, Jim Tutt, and Tommy Elliott. And I’m grateful for the heroic service of our first responders, including Officers Nick Wilt and Cory Galloway.”
On April 13, McGarvey marked Yom HaShoah by posting: “On Yom HaShoah, we mourn and remember the millions who were murdered in the Holocaust. We must continue to combat antisemitism, bigotry, and hate in every form — this kind of atrocity can never occur again.”
Morgan McGarvey has served as Kentucky’s 3rd District representative in Congress since replacing John Yarmuth in 2023. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Kentucky’s legislature from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey earned a BA from the University of Missouri and a JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
