Rep. Morgan McGarvey, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district, posted a series of tweets in mid-April addressing local and national issues ranging from gas prices to healthcare policy and community engagement.
On April 13, McGarvey commented on fuel costs in Louisville, writing: “$4.29/gallon at our local gas station yesterday. Louisvillians shouldn’t have to pay the price for the war Trump started.”
Two days later, coinciding with Tax Day, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s fiscal policies: “This Tax Day, don’t forget that Donald Trump cut your health care to give out huge tax breaks to his rich friends and donors.” The tweet was posted on April 15.
Later that same day, McGarvey encouraged student participation in a civic event: “REMINDER: All middle and high school students in Louisville are welcome to join my virtual Service Academy Night to learn more about the Congressional nomination process from start to finish! REGISTER before April 22 here:”
McGarvey has represented Kentucky’s 3rd District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. Prior to his current role, he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023 and in the Kentucky Senate from 2013 to 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979, McGarvey is a lifelong resident of the city. He holds a BA from the University of Missouri and earned his JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2007.
