Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently criticized former President Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers for their actions related to healthcare and food assistance in a series of posts on social media.
On November 8, 2025, McGarvey wrote, “At this point Donald Trump isn’t just making a choice to starve kids, he’s moving mountains to do it. It’s cruel, it’s wrong, and we won’t stop fighting.”
Two days later, on November 10, 2025, he posted another statement: “Republicans caused the longest shutdown ever to avoid giving people affordable healthcare. And then Trump literally sued for the right to starve Americans. This is not the time to cave. It’s a time to fight back.”
Later that same day, McGarvey addressed his constituents directly: “Louisvillians don’t want ‘a vote on health care’ — we want affordable health care. Now is not the time to cave, it’s the time to stand up and fight.”
Morgan McGarvey began serving as U.S. Representative for Kentucky’s 3rd District in 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth. Prior to his tenure in Congress, McGarvey served in both chambers of Kentucky’s state legislature from 2013 through early 2023. Born and residing in Louisville since his birth in 1979, McGarvey holds degrees from the University of Missouri and the University of Kentucky College of Law.
