Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who has represented Kentucky’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared updates on community initiatives and federal education funding through a series of posts on social media. McGarvey, a Louisville native with prior experience in both the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate, highlighted local efforts to support trauma survivors and promote access to resources, as well as expressed concern over withheld school funds.
On July 14, 2025, McGarvey described his visit to Kaylyn’s House of Joy, an organization founded by Kathy after the loss of her daughter Kaylyn. He stated: “When Kathy’s daughter Kaylyn passed away, she wanted to find a way to keep her compassion and spirit alive — she created Kaylyn’s House of Joy, a home for young women suffering from trauma and abuse. It was amazing to see the lives being transformed by the Kaylyn’s House Team.”
Later that day, on July 14, 2025, McGarvey posted about his recent visit to the Louisville Tool Library in Shelby Park. He wrote: “Had a great time visiting the Louisville Tool Library nestled in Shelby Park last week! With over 3,500 tools, houseware, camping gear, and more, they’re making incredible strides to break down the financial barrier to starting and finishing a project.”
On July 15, 2025, McGarvey addressed concerns regarding federal education funding in Kentucky. He commented: “Weeks before our kids head back to school, the Trump Administration is holding $96 million in KY school funds hostage — putting our after-school programs, teacher training, and summer school at risk. It’s unlawful, and it’s not what’s best for Kentucky.”
Morgan McGarvey succeeded John Yarmuth as representative for Kentucky’s 3rd district in Congress beginning in 2023. Prior to his current role in Congress, he served in both chambers of Kentucky’s state legislature between 2013 and 2023. Born in Louisville in 1979 and currently residing there at age 43, McGarvey holds degrees from the University of Missouri (BA) and University of Kentucky College of Law (JD).
