Rep. Morgan McGarvey, U.S. Congressman representing Kentucky’s 3rd district and Louisville native, shared a series of posts on social media this week reflecting on his legislative priorities and recent activities.
On May 7, McGarvey posted about his return to Louisville, stating: “Being back in Louisville means catching up on correspondence! Yes, I really do write and sign letters, and I always look forward to this time when I can share my thoughts, praise, and prayers with neighbors in the district.”
Later that day, he criticized federal spending decisions in another post: “No money to feed pregnant moms. No money to fix our broken health care system. No money to make sure everyone has a roof over their head. But somehow there’s a billion taxpayer dollars for Trump’s ballroom. No way in hell I’m voting for that.” The message highlights McGarvey’s opposition to what he describes as misplaced budgetary priorities.
On May 8, McGarvey continued his critique of federal expenditures with another statement: “Over $25 billion for a war no one asked for. In a country that can’t even honor the commitment we made to the men and women who put on the uniform. If we can’t afford to make sure our vets are taken care of, we can’t afford another war.”
Morgan McGarvey has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding John Yarmuth and previously held positions in both the Kentucky House of Representatives (2019–2023) and Kentucky Senate (2013–2023). He was born in Louisville in 1979 and continues to reside there. McGarvey is an alumnus of the University of Missouri (BA) and earned his JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2007.
