The U.S. Senate has confirmed Chad Meredith of Lexington, Kentucky, to serve as a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. The confirmation took place on October 23, 2025.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) released a statement following the confirmation. “Congratulations to my friend and fellow Kentuckian Chad Meredith on his confirmation to serve as a district judge for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Chad’s impressive legal background in the private sector and devotion to serving the public make him an excellent addition to the federal bench. His thoughtfulness and commitment to our Constitution will serve him well as he carries out his new duties,” McConnell said.
Senator McConnell recommended Meredith for the judgeship to the White House. President Trump nominated Meredith on June 18, 2025. Senator McConnell also spoke before the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Meredith’s nomination on July 30, 2025.
Meredith’s appointment follows a process that included recommendation by a senator, presidential nomination, committee review, and final Senate confirmation.
