Senator McConnell’s Press Office published a series of tweets in July 2025 focusing on the regulation of hemp and the protection of children from THC-related products.

On July 16, 2025, the office shared an opinion piece with the statement “.@SenMcConnell OP-ED: We can grow hemp and protect kids at same time https://t.co/IvAqCo4qI1 via @kytodayeditor”. The following day, another tweet highlighted efforts to address THC abuses among youth in Kentucky: “Safeguarding kids from THC abuses in Kentucky hemp | Lexington Herald Leader https://t.co/fUfGEeXypC” (July 17, 2025).

Later that same day, Senator McConnell’s position was reiterated: “.@SenMcConnell: I’m for hemp, but we must close a loophole that hurts kids https://t.co/gSJ359AbyV via @courierjournal” (July 17, 2025).

These statements come amid ongoing discussions about balancing economic opportunities provided by industrial hemp cultivation with concerns over unregulated THC products reaching minors. Senator Mitch McConnell has been a key figure in advancing federal legislation related to hemp production while also advocating for measures to prevent misuse of hemp-derived substances among young people.
