Cost of college went up for all students at Jefferson Community and Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4 percent for 2018-19 at Jefferson Community and Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kentucky residents paid $4,328 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $168 more than the $4,160 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 234.6 percent more than residents this year, or $14,480. Their price tag grew 4.3 percent from $13,880 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kentucky residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 876 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4 million and 210 students took out student loans totaling more than $950,155.

Including all undergraduates (11,699), 9,394 students used grants or scholarships totaling $29.7 million, and 2,420 students took out $12.9 million in federal student loans.
