Brozovich amasses 10 saves in loss to Louisville

Louisville scored twice in the first half and added another goal late in the second stanza in defeating the Bellarmine University men's soccer team 3-0 on Monday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.

Senior goalkeeper Matthew Brozovich piled up a career-high 10 saves for Bellarmine (0-1-1). In-city foe Louisville (2-0) scored three goals for the second straight game after opening the season with a 3-1 triumph over No. 10 Saint Louis.

Last season, it took Louisville roughly 105 minutes to score against Bellarmine, as the Cardinals came up with the golden goal in double overtime of a 1-0 victory. In this year's contest, it only took Louisville a little over 10 minutes to locate the net.

The Cardinals countered off a Bellarmine set piece. After a long run down the left side, Macoumba Ba had a shot from the top of the box that slipped through for a 1-0 lead. It was his second goal of the season.

Louisville scored its two other goals off corner kicks. Brandon McManus ripped a one-touch just inside the left post in the 29th minute for a 2-0 lead, and Marcus Jorgensen converted on a header in the 87th minute to pad the advantage. Sander Roed assisted on the first goal and Ayden Nocus on the second.

Louisville finished with a 21-3 advantage in shots, including 14-2 on goal. Brozovich tallied five saves in each half, several times diving or leaping to punch away on-target attempts from the Cardinals. Senior midfielder Rahim Shalash added a defensive save in the first half.

Bellarmine will play at 7 p.m. (ET) Friday at Northern Kentucky.
