Louisville - On November 1, 2023, Government Oversight/Audit & Appointments Committee Chair Councilwoman Cindi Fowler formally requested President Markus Winkler to create an Ad Hoc Charging Committee.
The five Metro Council Members who will serve on the Charging Committee are Councilwoman Cindi Fowler (D-14), Councilwoman Paula McCraney (D-7), Councilman Andrew Owen (D-9), Councilman Pat Mulvihill (D-10), and Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe (D-21).
Per KRS 67C.143 (attached), …any elected officer of a consolidated local government in case of misconduct, incapacity, or willful neglect in the performance of the duties of his or her office may be removed from office by the legislative council, sitting as a court, under oath, upon charges preferred by the mayor or any five members of the legislative council…
The Committee’s first meeting will elect a chair(s), establish a schedule, and meet with counsel. Meetings will be open to the public and noticed by the Council Clerk.
