Morgan McGarvey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Kentucky’s 3rd district, shared his thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets. McGarvey has been in Congress since 2023, succeeding John Yarmuth, and previously served in the Kentucky House of Representatives and Senate.
On January 31, 2025, McGarvey addressed claims by the Trump Administration regarding violent attacks by January 6th rioters. He stated, "The Trump Administration is claiming that violent attacks perpetrated by January 6th rioters fall into 'gray areas.' I don't know about you, but assaulting Capitol Police officers isn't a gray area to me."
Later that day, McGarvey commented on leadership following national tragedies. He expressed that leaders should unite and provide comfort rather than divide and inflame tensions. He wrote, "In the wake of a national tragedy, true leaders bring us together and provide comfort, not divide us and falsely inflame. These families need our support, and they deserve answers — that should be President Trump’s focus. That should be all of our focus — I know it's mine."
Additionally, McGarvey highlighted his appreciation for cultural events in Louisville with a tweet about IndiaFest: "IndiaFest is one of my favorite events of the year! I love any opportunity to celebrate the many ways Louisville's Indian community makes our city better."
