Louisville/Jefferson County metro surpass Cleveland-Elyria in 2019

The Louisville/Jefferson County metro area exported $9.1 billion in 2019, more than exports from Cleveland-Elyria in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Louisville/Jefferson County metro area consists of 10 counties.

The Cleveland-Elyria metro area comprises five counties exporting $8.8 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
