Twelve Knights earn MSFL post-season honors, Reid wins league offensive MVP
The Midwest Sprint Football League released its first ever post-season honors on Tuesday, and 12 Knights brought home 15 awards.
Freshman running back Brenden Reid earned the highest honor for Bellarmine, as he was named MSFL Offensive MVP. Reid led the team rushing for 772 yards, six touchdowns, while averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He also caught 15 passes this season for 181 yards and two touchdowns out of the backfield.
Five Knights were named First Team All-Conference – Tavius Francis, Royce Hall, Anikin Harris, Devan Hendricks, and Caleb Murray. Francis led Bellarmine with four interceptions this year at cornerback. Hall led the Knights with 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks at defensive end. Harris helped lead a Bellarmine rushing attack that averaged 150 yards per game (second in the MSFL) on the offensive line. Hendricks rushed for 287 yards with three touchdowns at running back this season. He also led the team with 295 receiving yards and a touchdown out of the backfield. Hendricks was a dual honoree, as he earned a First Team award at free safety, ranking third on the team with 41 tackles and three interceptions this season. Murray led the Knights with 50 tackles this year.
Six Bellarmine players were named Second Team All-Conference – Cameron Broussard, Dylan Gough, D.J. Griffin, Michael Miller, Louinel Plaisir, and Ben Valle. Broussard started at right tackle this season and helped charge the second best rushing attack in the MSFL. Gough started at quarterback for the Knights, throwing for 1,134 yards and nine touchdowns in seven games this season. Griffin caught 17 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown this year, while rushing for 47 yards as well. Miller led Bellarmine with three forced fumbles this year on the defensive line. Plaisir recorded an interception, forced fumble, fumble recovery, and three tackles for loss on the defensive line. Valle hit a pair of field goals, including the game-winning 33-yard kick in the season opener versus Midway.Reid and Hendricks were also named Captains of Character.
