Louisville, KY – Metro Councilman Khalil Batshon and Kentucky State Senator David Yates announce the annual Gavin Chase Coat-A-Kid Drive for 2023. The event, which started over the weekend with Light Up Valley Station will run until Friday, December 15, 2023. Anyone willing to assist is asked to bring new winter coats, gloves, and scarves to either the Stomping Grounds Coffee Shop (10019 Dixie Highway) or Shirley’s Way (10966 Dixie Highway). All donations received as part of this event will be given to Jefferson County Public School students through Family Resource and Youth Service Coordinators for the district.

Any person or group interested in making a financial contribution towards the Chase Gavin Coat-A-Kid Drive can do so by visiting www.ChaseGavinCoatAKid.org

“For years, I have participated in this drive as a business owner, and friend of then Councilman David Yates. Today I am proud to step into a new role as an organizer for this coat drive. While many of us take a warm coat in the winter for granted, there are hundreds of children in our school system that do not share that luxury. I am hopeful that this coat drive will help to address this important need and look forward to many more years of honoring the work of Chase Gavin and the many people who helped to get this effort off the ground.” – Councilman Khalil Batshon

"This donation drive is important to me because my daughter, Ava, helped start it, my friend Chase helped make it even more successful. These coats are given to kids in need throughout JCPS with a focus on those from Southwest Louisville. I am so appreciative to the sponsors, donors and volunteers that help keep Chase's passion and memory alive,” – Senator David Yates.
