LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville citizens Jim and Claudette Patton and the Louisville Metro Youth Cabinet (MYC) are asking residents from every Jefferson County zip code to nominate youths who have achieved against difficult or unique challenges brought by adversity, such as: the remnants of violence, physical or mental health challenges, unique life situations, and economic disparity.

“Amplify 502” will recognize and honor Jefferson County youth ages 13-24 who overcome life setbacks and who, because of that, serve as positive - but too often forgotten - community role models.

Nominations are competitive and can be entered on-line at Louisvilleky.gov and at OSHN’s city website at: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/office-safe-healthy-neighborhoods. The nominating period ends on March 7, 2024.

Nominations should come from adults familiar with the challenges faced by the youth. That adult can be a neighbor, teacher, coach, mentor, friend, religious leader, and advisor. Nominations from family members are discouraged.

The youth will be publicly recognized at a community celebratory event; details will be announced later. The youth will also be recognized and supported by members of the KY House of Representatives and the U.S. Congress.  Among many slated opportunities, the youth will be offered the chance to participate in community events and leadership training.
