Louisville  – Today, Councilman Phillip Baker (D-6) joined Metro Public Works staff to kick off the street sweeping season, and pilot program for area 6, located in Old Louisville.

“One of the first concerns I heard about when I came into office was street cleaning. Together with Public Works Director Jennifer Kern and her team, we have worked to improve the street cleaning process and the advance outreach to neighbors. Old Louisville is much cleaner today, thanks to our Metro employees!” said Councilman Baker.

The pilot program includes additional communication efforts including social media posts, flyers on vehicles in the area, different colored signs, alerts on street sweeping equipment, towing of vehicles left in the right-of-way, clearing of leaves and debris, and power washing the roads.

Councilman Baker would like to thank Metro Public Works Director, Jennifer Kern, Solid Waste Management Services Assistant Directors, Pete Flood and Shannon Logan, and their entire teams for their hard work!

"Old Louisville really appreciates all the extra efforts that were made today to help make our street cleaning the best it could be.  Thank you to all of the workers that came out to help.  I hope everyone recognizes that new communication was implemented, and major efforts were made to be successful," said Old Louisville Neighborhood Council Chair, Luanne Maguire.

If you live on a street that is scheduled to be swept, please make sure you move your vehicle off the street between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the day of street sweeping. You may sign up to receive text alerts using the “Address Lookup” tool at Louisvilleky.gov.
