Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Louisville

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Louisville, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kentucky residents paid $11,656 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $392 more than the $11,264 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 134 percent more than residents this year, or $27,278. Their price tag grew 3.8 percent from $26,286 in 2017-18.

About 79 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kentucky residents. About 20 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,482 students received grants or scholarships totaling $24.9 million and 1,260 students took out student loans totaling more than $8.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (21,430), 13,020 students used grants or scholarships totaling $117 million, and 6,132 students took out $39.6 million in federal student loans.
