Women's soccer lands six on Academic All-District Team

Six Bellarmine University women's soccer players were acknowledged on the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team.

Seniors Elyssa Francis, Sarah Kraus and Zenia Nava, sophomore Chelsea DeVettori and redshirt freshmen Alexa Orozco and Sidney Rigsby were recognized.

To be considered for the Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must possess a minimum 3.50 grade-point average and must have been a starter or key reserve on their respective team.

A graduate student, Francis (3.79 GPA, physical therapy) earned the fourth All-Conference accolade of her career, and second in the ASUN, this season in goal after appearing in 16 matches with 15 starts and posting a 0.83 goals-against average, .852 save percentage and six shutouts. The Evansville, Indiana, native is a two-time ASUN Honor Roll recipient.

Kraus (3.89, biology) started all 17 games at center back and never left the field, amassing a team-high 1,530 minutes. The product of Glen Carbon, Illinois, has garnered two ASUN Honor Roll laurels.

Nava (3.71, mathematics/pre-med) started all 17 games this season and played on the back line, at forward and in the midfield while registering 1,364 minutes. The native of Thomson, Georgia, has twice earned ASUN Honor Roll notice.

DeVettori (3.62, finance) started all 17 games this year and ranked third on the team with 1,394 minutes. The holding midfielder and native of Carmel, Indiana, collected ASUN Honor Roll accolades last season.

After redshirting last season, Orozco (3.63, environmental science) landed ASUN All-Freshman Team recognition after leading Bellarmine in goals scored (three) while starting all 17 games and accumulating 1,304 minutes. The holding midfielder and product of Aurora, Illinois, was an ASUN Honor Roll selection last year.

Rigsby (3.85, psychology) also redshirted last season and made a big impact as a freshman, starting all 14 games and logging 1,191 minutes on the back line prior to an injury. The native of Lebanon, Ohio, was an ASUN Honor Roll recipient last year.
