Four Knights receive Academic All-District accolades

Four Bellarmine University volleyball players were recognized on the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Team, the organization announced today.

Seniors Hannah Brown, Emily Ernst, Carissa Reyes, and Jayme Scott were honored for the Knights.

To be considered for the Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must possess a minimum 3.50 grade-point average and must have been a starter or key reserve on their respective team. In volleyball, the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) limits each school to four honorees on the Academic All-District Team.

Brown (3.59 GPA, nursing), a Germantown, Wisconsin native accumulated more than 400 kills and 100 blocks patrolling the middle for the Knights in her career.  This year she served as team captain and ranked third on the team in kills per set (2.12), total points (195) and points per set (2.35).

Ernst (3.96 GPA, biology) has been a consistent contributor for Bellarmine all four years of her career, appearing in 94 matches. This year, the Mason, Ohio native tied for first on the team in service aces (25) and ranked second in total digs (190) and digs per set (2.04).

Reyes (3.78 GPA, psychology) was a steady presence on the Bellarmine back row this season, appearing in all 28 matches. The Louisville native and Kent State transfer was third on the team in total digs (188), and with 24 service aces, placed just one behind the team leaders.  Reyes also was fifth on the team in digs per set (1.84).

Scott (3.55 GPA, communication), another Louisville native, was not only Bellarmine's top hitter this season, but she also ranked among the ASUN Conference leaders with 376 total kills and a 4.0 kills per set average. Earlier this season, Scott became just the 11th player in program history to top 1,000 kills for her career.

College Sports Communicators (CSC) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
