The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Kentucky will participate in National Night Out events to promote safer streets and stronger communities, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Michael A. Bennett.

National Night Out events are scheduled across the Commonwealth today, including five neighborhood gatherings hosted by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD). The U.S. Attorney’s Office will host a resource booth at LMPD’s Eighth Division event at Walker Warren Park in the Douglas Hills neighborhood and attend other LMPD neighborhood events throughout Louisville.

“We look forward to participating in National Night Out again this year and building stronger partnerships between federal and local law enforcement and the communities we serve,” said U.S. Attorney Bennett. “With our shared commitment to creating safer neighborhoods, we can all help to prevent crime.”

National Night Out aims to foster positive relationships between police and community members through various activities such as block parties, cookouts, festivals, parades, safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, and visits from emergency personnel.

Established in 1984 with funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance of the U.S. Department of Justice, National Night Out is administered by the National Association of Town Watch, a nationwide non-profit organization.
